El Paso Police search for person who shot man in groin with shotgun

A man was shot in the groin at close range with a shotgun after an argument in East El Paso Sunday morning, according to police.
The incident happened just after 1 a.m. on Sunday in an apartment complex parking lot on the 6800 block of Bellrose Drive near Airway and Viscount boulevard.

According to police, a woman had been arguing with a man when the altercation started to become physical. A 23-year-old man saw the altercation and stepped in to separate the two.

The man involved in the argument then got into a vehicle with four others when one of the men got out of the vehicle and allegedly fired a shotgun at the 23-year-old man and a 56-year-old man who was standing nearby.

The alleged suspects fled in the vehicle that has been described by witnesses as a sedan.

Both men were transported to University Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
