2 men shot to death in Socorro; police search for suspect

The Socorro Police Department is investigating a double homicide, according to Socorro city spokesman Dave Garcia.

Garcia said two Hispanic men in their late 20s were found dead from gunshot wounds near a canal about a mile from the intersection of Apodanca and Winn.

According to Garcia, witnesses told police they heard six gunshots between 4:30 and 5:30 pm. Police arrived on the scene around 7:30 pm.

Socorro Police officers, along with U.S. Border Protection officers, secured a wide swath of land surrounding the crime scene.

Socorro Police are still looking for a suspect described as athin white man with light hair driving a white Chevy pickup truck. He was last seen around the 9000 block of Apodaca around 6 p.m.
