StormTrack Weather First Alert: Storms moving through area, flood warming, advisory issued

Severe thunderstorms rolled through the area starting at about 5 p.m. this afternoon.

A Flash Flood Warning was issued at 5:59 p.m. due National Weather Service in El Paso’s doppler radar indicated slow moving thunderstorms with very heavy rainfall across the warned area of southeastern El Paso County in southwest Texas, including Tornillo. The warning is set to expire at 8 p.m.

Additional rainfall amounts of an inch to inch and a half are possible in the warned area.

A Flood Advisory also has been issued for El Paso County until 7:30 p.m.

There have been brief power outages in El Paso but El Paso Electric officials said power is coming back on almost as quickly as it is going out.

An increase in storms is expected tonight for the entire area.

Storms are firing well to our west and moving east and northeast. Some of these storms will produce isolated heavy rainfall and some hail.

We could potentially even see a few severe storms in the mix. We begin to dry out a bit tomorrow and for the weekend with temps in the low to mid 90s.
