MountainStar Sports makes presentation to Pacific Coast League
The El Paso group hoping to purchase a Triple-A Baseball team made a presentation in Dallas today to the Executive Committee of the Pacific Coast League of Minor League Baseball. The group made a case for El Paso to be a Triple-A market, but an immediate answer is not expected from Minor League Baseball or the League.
The El Paso owner group is MountainStar Sports Group, LLC, consisting of Woody L. Hunt, Chairman of Hunt Companies, Inc., Paul L. Foster, Executive Chairman of Western Refining, Inc., Joshua Hunt, Senior Vice President of Hunt Companies and Managing Director of Hunt Holdings, and Alejandra de la Vega Foster, President of Almacenes Distribuidores de la Frontera. Others presenting on behalf of the group were consultants Alan Ledford, founder of Perfect Game Ventures, LLC, and Dan Barrett, principal of Barrett Sports Group, LLC.
“We spent a very productive three hours with the Pacific Coast League today,” said Josh Hunt. “We believe we made a positive, compelling case for El Paso as a viable Triple-A Baseball market, and we hope for a favorable response.”
Hunt said that the League and Minor League Baseball do not approve or disapprove of a market right away; they take the time to do due diligence and any additional research they feel is needed.
“We believe we thoroughly addressed all of the League’s questions, and presented the many good attributes of our City. As we have done throughout this effort, we respect the process of the League and Minor League Baseball and will wait for that process to take its course.”
