Bel Air Girls on a Roll

Tomorrow night will be a historical night for the Bel Air Highlanders girls basketball program. It will be the first time the school will play in a regional quarterfinal when they take on Arlington Bowie at Odessa College.

“It’s been a great season,” Bel Air coach Clay Ward said. “We never lost back to back games , the girls have shown up everyday to work hard to improve their game, and that’s how winners get to be winners.”

Bel Air on the year is 28-3, and looking to continue there historic season.

“I think this team is good for two reasons,” Ward explained. “One they are extremely talented and work very hard, and two they have been together six years winning three district tiles, so they know each other very well.”

“Last year we only got to bi-district and we always expect more,” junior guard Alanis Candelaria said. “This year we have accomplished our goals and hopefully we can go even farther.”

Bel Air Coach Clay Ward has won back to back bi-district championships with the school, but now taking Bel Air to the next level is what his team is focused on and they’ll get their chance tomorrow night against the state’s tenth ranked team.
