United Steelworkers hosting sesions for former ASARCO workers

The United Steelworkers will be hosting session for former Asarco workers to help them identify if they suffered illnesses as a result of their work at Asarco.

Congressman Beto O’Rourke will be attending the session on Tuesday morning, August 6th.

United Steelworkers – El Paso Asarco Workers Sessions

USW will be collecting some information and talking to the former workers at several sessions during the week of August 5. The session will include:

Hazard mapping: We will use layouts of the plant pre 1992 and post 1993. Former workers will mark the area/areas they believe the Encycle products where used and mark the area/areas they worked in with the approximate timeframe they work in those area.
Body mapping: Workers will mark their types and locations of illnesses on a basic drawing of the body.
USW health & safety trainers who are leading the sessions will pair each worker’s hazard map and body map so we can look for similarities in illnesses and the areas of work within the plant.

Session A – 9:00am-11:30
Session B – 1:00pm-3:30

Wednesday, August 7, 2013
Session A – 9:00am-11:30
Session B – 1:00pm-3:30
