It’s official: One Direction to play in El Paso’s Sun Bowl Stadium Sept. 2014
7:28 a.m. Nov. 26 Update: One Direction will perform at the Sun Bowl Stadium on Sept. 19, 2014 as part of their Where We Are Tour.
The band made the announcement on their One Big Announcement tour website and on Twitter Tuesday morning.
Tickets will go on sale through Ticketmaster at noon El Paso time on Dec. 7.

Ticketmaster page to buy tickets is http://bit.ly/IqBKlv. A Citi Card Member presale is going on right now. The Citi password is 546616 according to a website that posts presale codes for different concerts. A CITI issued credit card might be required.

The stadium tour and stop in El Paso had been accidentally leaked by Live Nation over the weekend.
Sun Bowl Stadium has hosted several musical acts over the years including the Rolling Stones, Dixie Chicks, N’Sync, and U2.
Nov. 25 Story: British boy band One Direction will perform on Good Morning America on Tuesday morning in Central Park and will make a “major announcement.”
That big announcement is expected to be their fall 2014 U.S.-Canadian stadium tour – including a concert in El Paso. One Direction released their third studio album, “Midnight Memories,” on Monday.
Over the weekend Live Nation apparently leaked the North American tour dates by accident, including pictures of the band in jerseys of the cities they will perform in. The band wears UTEP football jerseys in the postcard-style picture that has Sept. 19 on it as the El Paso concert date.
UTEP Special Events on Tuesday afternoon will announce a special performance on campus in fall 2014. A message left with the Special Events director Monday afternoon about the announcement and if has to do with One Direction has yet to be returned.
The leaked concert dates and pictures were posted on several entertainment websites. Ticket prices and on-sale dates were not part of the leaked information.
The band started its “One Big Announcement” website earlier this year where they have previously announced European and Latin American stadium tour dates for 2014.
It’s not unusual for big stars to announce concert tours on ABC. Last year Taylor Swift announced her 2013 Red Tour during an ABC show.
