El Paso Chihuahuas announced radio broadcast agreement, tease upcoming ticket sales

The El Paso Chihuahuas and 600 ESPN El Paso announced Tuesday a three-year agreement for the El Paso radio station to broadcast the Triple-A team’s games.

The announcement means 600 ESPN will no longer carry Los Angeles Dodgers games.

“It has been a great relationship with the Dodgers,” 600 ESPN’s Steve Kaplowitz said during the Tuesday broadcast.

Kaplowitz said because of the amount of games both the Dodgers and Chihuahuas will play and the days they will play it would be impossible to carry both teams.

“I hope somebody else picks them up,” Kaplowitz said of the Dodgers games.

Some other Chihuahuas topics were touched on during the two-hour broadcast announcing the agreement included the ballpark’s name and tickets-sale news.

Chihuahuas general manager Brad Taylor said negotiations are still continuing to name the Downtown ballpark.

Taylor also said that the team is expected to announce, just in time for the holidays, paw-tial (or partial) ticket plans for several games.

Taylor also said it looked like individual game tickets would go on sale in mid-February.

When asked by 600 ESPN if he will say what his attendance goal is, Taylor responded that he hopes 400,000-plus is a reasonable possibility because of what the Diablos used to attract when they were a Double-A affiliate.
