House fire in West El Paso displaces 2

A house fire broke out Sunday morning, leaving two people without a home, fire officials said.

Fire crews were sent to a house fire on the 5800 block of Burning Tree Drive just before 5 a.m., according to a release.

Heavy smoke was seen pouring from the attic space, and a total of 21 firefighters worked on the home, fire officials said. They controlled the fire within 10 minutes.

According to the release, the two adults inside the home escaped the fire when one adult saw lights flickering in the den.

No one was injured during the fire. However, the damage was so severe the home is currently uninhabitable.

Fire investigators believe the cause of the fire was electrical. It appears the fire began in the attic space above the den, but spread to the space above the kitchen, the release said.

Damages are estimated at $95,000.
