Local students to cover presidential visit

President Barack Obama is making a trip to the Sun City.

He is scheduled to address Fort Bliss troops Friday on post.

The event is not open to the public, but several area students will be in attendance.

El Paso Independent School District’s spokeswoman, Rene De Santos, said 10 students from Coronado High School have been cleared for credentials to cover the president’s visit.

Students from Franklin and Burges high schools will also attend.

Many of them are taking journalism classes in school.

De Santos said they too want to cover major news stories, just like any other media organization.
