Man booked and charged in fatal Northeast El Paso stabbing
El Paso Police charged 44-year-old Wayne Thomas Mitchell in the fatal stabbing of Marshall Gene Dorris in Northeast El Paso.
Mitchell was arrested on Oct. 8, but hospitalized after attempting to injury himself.
He recovered from those from injuries before being charged Friday with murder, criminal attempted murder, aggravated robbery, and evading arrest or detention.
Bonds set for Mitchell total $277,500.
According to police, Mitchell became engaged in an argument with 52-year-old Debra Buchanan on Oct. 7.
The argument escalated and Mitchell allegedly took out a knife and stabbed Buchanan in the torso.
Dorris then approached Mitchell to try and defend Buchanan and Mitchell allegedly stabbed him multiple times in the upper torso and neck before fleeing the scene.
Buchanan is in stable condition.
Police said Mitchell allegedly stabbed another woman hours later in the 3900 block of Harrison.
Mitchell has two prior felony convictions. He was convicted of 2nd degree Felony in 2001 for Burglary of Habitation and convicted of Felony-Unauthorized use of a vehicle in 2007.
