TX DOT to talk at UTEP tonight about installing second roundabout
The Texas Department of Transportation is drawing up plans to create a second roundabout for the University of Texas-El Paso campus.
The traffic circle would be at the intersection of Glory Road and Sun Bowl Drive, which is currently a three-way intersection controlled by stop signs.
That planned roundabout is north of the campus’ first roundabout at Sun Bowl and University Avenue, which opened at the beginning of the year.
In a news release sent to ABC-7 Monday evening, TX DOT outlined the plan for the intersection of Sun Bowl and Glory Road. Crews would also be expanding Sun Bowl from a two-lane to a four-lane road to match the rest of the road that’s north and south of the intersection.
Sidewalks and lights will also be installed, along with medians and left turn lanes.
The release did not specify when the construction may begin.
TX DOT is holding a meeting to review the plans tonight starting at 6 p.m. It will be held at the El Paso Natural Gas Conference Center on the UTEP campus.
