Fourth of July First Alert

The StormTRACK Weather Team has issued a First Alert for Wednesday and Thursday of this week. Strong winds, heavy rain, and flooding are all possible with the storms that may develop.

A monsoonal pattern is beginning to take shape as an upper-level ridge of high pressure is sitting over the Southeastern U.S., bringing in abundant amounts of Gulf moisture. Also, an area of low pressure over the southern Baja California peninsula is ushering in Pacific moisture.

The combination of these two weather systems has significantly raised our opportunities for rain beginning on the 4th of July.

The festivities in the morning, such as the street parades, should not be affected by the weather, but it’s in the evening (during the fireworks displays) where the situation could become a bit hairy.

For today, the chance of rain is only at 20% in the afternoon with a high of 94 and a low of 72.

The 4th of July forecast calls for a 40% chance for PM strong storms and a high of 89.
