Police locate driver in fight that ended with man fatally run over

Police said they’ve located a driver involved in a road-side fight that ended with a man being run over and killed by a tractor trailer.

It happened about 2 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of Boeing Drive and Airway Boulevard. Police said 23-year-old Marco Antonio Reyes, of the 3700 block of Tularosa, was driving a blue Ford F-150 when he was involved in collision with a with a light-colored Lexus.

Reyes and the other driver reportedly got out of their vehicle and began arguing before getting into a fight.

During the fight, Reyes fell under a tractor-trailer that was stopped at a red light. When the light turned green and the driver continued, Reyes was crushed and killed. Police said the driver of the tractor trailer was probably not aware of what had happened. Police said the driver of the Lexus left the scene.

On Thursday evening, the police were able to contact the truck driver. Both he and the driver of the Lexus are considered key witnesses in Reyes’ death.

No charges have been filed in this case.

This death is the 24th traffic fatality and eighth pedestrian death of 2012, compared with 43 and 11 respectively at the same time last year.
