Update: El Paso Police say speed factor in 2-vehicle crash that killed man Thursday; man identified
Jan. 17, 2014 Update:
El Paso Police say speed was a factor in a fatal two-vehicle crash on Thursday afternoon.
The crash happened at about 2:09 p.m. in the 10900 block of Vista Del Sol. Investigators say that a 2005 Ford Mustang, driven by 21-year-old Francisco Lopez, was traveling west on Vista Del Sol when Lopez lost control of the car and went into the eastbound lanes of Vista Del Sol.
At the same time, a 2007 Jeep Liberty, driven by 33-year-old Cesar Cordova, was traveling eastbound on Vista Del Sol when the Mustang struck the Jeep causing both drivers to be injured.
Both drivers were transported to Del Sol Medical Center for treatment where Cordova died from from his injuries.
Police say that they believe speed was a factor in the collision on behalf of Lopez.
No charges have been filed in this case and the investigation remains ongoing.
Jan. 16, 2014 Story: One person was killed in a serious crash on the 10900 block of Vista Del Sol just just after 2 p.m. Thursday.
Police say an SUV was headed east on Vista Del Sol and a Mustang was headed west, and that the Mustang lost control and crashed into SUV.
The driver of the SUV was transported to a hospital where he died. The driver of the Mustang was transported to hospital but his injuries were not immediately known.
