Trial of suspected Barrio Azteca gang member continues

The trial of an alleged Barrio Azteca gang member continues Monday morning.

Arturo Gallegos Castrellon is accused of ordering the deaths of US consulate worker Leslie Ann Enriquez and her husband, El Paso County Detention Center worker Robert Redelfs, in 2010.

The couple was gunned down in Juarez while leaving a child’s birthday party en route to their home in El Paso.

Self-admitted Barrio Azteca gang members testified in federal court last week that they had been trained by Zeta cartel gunmen. They also told jurors they traded the cartel weapons for drugs.

The trial resumes at 9 a.m. at the federal courthouse.
