Federal agents help sick Juarez boy

Federal agents have helped a nine-year-old boy suffering from a massive tumor get out of a dangerous Juarez neighborhood and across the Texas border for medical treatment.

U.S. Homeland Security Investigations assisted Thursday in picking up the boy and his parents from a gang-infested neighborhood in Juarez opposite El Paso, Texas. DHS located the boy after members of a Rio Rancho Baptist church saw him near an orphanage.

Officials say the tumor on his shoulder and neck is so big now it is affecting his eyesight and may move into his heart.

Denise Gutierrez, a victim assistance coordinator for Homeland Security Investigations, said the boy has a temporary humanitarian visa for treatment in New Mexico.

Si Budagher, the pastor of First Baptist Church of Rio Rancho, said the church has set up a fund for private donations.
