Andress leaves El Paso for next round of basketball playoffs
The Andress High School boys basketball team is on its way to Snyder, Texas to take on Crowley at 5 p.m. Friday.
The Golden Eagles, who are ranked No. 1 in 4A in the state by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches, are looking to bring home El Paso’s first state basketball championship since Eastwood back in 1976.

The team packed up and got onto the bus Thursday morning, headed for Snyder.
They had a lot of support, too.The band, cheerleaders, students and all their fans were on hand to wish them luck.
The coaching staff says the team is ready.
We’re very excited,” said assistant coach Rodney Lewis. “These guys worked hard all year to reach one of our goals, to make the sweet 16.”
And the team isn’t just representing their school.
“We told them that we need to represent El Paso,” Lewis said. “It’s been a long time since El Paso has had a state champion (in basketball) and we feel like we have a team that can get to the state championship.”
