Sheriff’s Office: Two teens in custody after vehicle pursuit
Sheriff’s deputies arrested two teenage males after they led officials on a vehicle pursuit Friday, according to an El Paso County Sheriff’s Office release.
Deputies were sent to the 14500 block of Achim Drive in Horizon City around 12:15 p.m.
The two males, a 16-year-old and 17-year-old Carlos Meza, jumped into a residential yard after parking on a back dirt road, the release said.
They then entered back into their vehicle and pulled onto Antwerp Drive, officials said.
According to the release, the deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, a 2007 Dodge Nitro, but the driver refused.
The pursuit took officials through Horizon City and ended at the 1400 block of Calhoun.
Officials said the two males left their vehicle and fled on foot.
They were stopped quickly afterward by sheriff’s deputies and taken into custody, the release said.
The two males were charged with evading arrest and detention.
According to the release, the sheriff’s office is still investigating the case with the possibility of adding more charges.
