Fannin Elementary principal pleads guilty in 2011 DWI case

The principal at Fannin Elementary School pleaded guilty Wednesday morning to a DWI charge she was arrested for in 2011.

Gabriela Cortez pleaded guilty in El Paso County Criminal Court No. 3.

According to court records, as part of the plea, Cortez was placed on community supervision for one year. Cortez must participate in a DWI education program within 180 days, pay fine/court costs, and not drive in a vehicle without a camera ignition interlock.

Cortez also must do 60 hours of community service, submit to urine analysis/blood alcohol testing and be home from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. unless she is out for work or school.
