The man, believed to be from central Texas, was pronounced dead shortly after being transported to Memorial Medical Center.
Police say the man’s death does not appear to be a result of the crash and that preliminary information from the investigation appears to indicate that the man suffered from some type of medical condition that caused him to lose consciousness as his Ford F-250 traveled north on El Paseo Road.
His pickup crossed Idaho Avenue and veered into oncoming traffic. The truck side-swiped a southbound Chevrolet Silverado, jumped a curb and came to rest in the parking lot of the Walgreens store at 1256 El Paseo Road.
The 38-year-old driver of the southbound Chevy Silverado and her two passengers were not injured.
