Apartment fire destroys one home, damages two others

An apartment fire at Trevino Place apartments on Lee Trevino Sunday night left three families without their homes.
The fire department tells ABC-7 around 6:30 Sunday evening the bedroom of a top floor apartment began to blaze.The family inside was alerted by their fire alarm and were able to evacuate.
Firefighters were on-scene within three minutes of the call and quickly put out the blaze. In total, 10 fire units and 33 firefighters were called to the fire, but were not able to save the homes.
The main apartment has smoke and burn damage, while two others nearby have water damage, leaving three families without their homes in just a matter of minutes.Firefighters say no one was injured.
“It was the mother and her children that were in there,” said Battalion 6 Lt. Michael Bell. “They were alerted by the smoke alarm so it allowed them time to evacuate without any harm.”
Firefighters said the cause of the fire was electrical and the apartment where is started is a total loss, with about $90,000 in damage.
The Red Cross is assisting the families, helping them find a place to stay.
