Driver caught in early morning pedestrian accident

El Paso Police caught a hit-and-run suspect early Saturday morning.

Accordign to officials, a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle on the 2600 block of Mesa Street at around 2:30 a.m.

An officer witnessed the collision, and subsequently, the driver of the vehicle attempt to leave, officials said.

The officer followed the driver, and caught up to him at the intersection of Kerbey and Mesa, police said.

Officials said the man was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

The victim was taken to Las Palmas Medical Center. His condition is unknown.

Around the same time, another person was also hit by a car.

According to EMS dispatch, the incident happened at Escarpa and Pebble Hills.

Officials said one person was taken to Del Sol Medical Center, but there was no information on the victim’s status.

Officials have not said whether the driver responsible was arrested.
