EPISD’s Terri Jordan to leave district

Doctor Terri Jordan will no longer work for the El Paso Independent School District, a spokesman for the district announced late Friday night.

Her last day will be December 21.

Jordan has recently come under fire for her alleged involvement in the district’s cheating scandal.

In May of 2010, the then state senator Eliot Shapleigh began accusing the EPISD of a massive cheating scandal.

Jordan was serving as chief of staff under Lorenzo Garcia, the then superintendent, at the time.

In December, the FBI launched an investigation.

Only a few months later, Garcia was arrested.

Jordan was named the interim superintendent in Garcia’s place in August 2011.

This September, amid controversy, Jordan stepped down from her superintendent role and went back to her previous position.

Jordan’s decision to leave the district will be discussed Tuesday, as will the future of Bowie High School Assistant principal Anna Luisa Kell and Assistant Superintendent James Anderson.

ABC-7 will be at the meeting Tuesday evening.
