2012 story: Gov. Martinez skips Las Cruces visit over dad’s illness

Gov. Susana Martinez has cancelled a speaking engagement in Las Cruces because her father is ill.

The Las Cruces Sun-News reports (http://bit.ly/VDvZQH ) Martinez was set to speak at a luncheon hosted by the Las Cruces Business Network and the National Federation of Independent Businesses on Thursday.

Event organizer George Pintar says the governor had to back out because of her father’s illness.

Martinez was expected to speak about small business issues and her economic priorities for the 2013 legislative session.
