El Paso Chihuahuas win season opener on the road

The El Paso Chihuahuas won the first game in team history Thursday, beating the Reno Aces 7-5.

El Paso had 17 hits, including three each from Reymond Fuentes and Rico Noel.

The first home run in the franchise’s history was hit by Jeff Francoeur and Brooks Conrad added a pinch-hit home run in the ninth inning.

The Chihuahuas never trailed in the game and scored at least one run in their first four innings.

The game also had a strange moment when a gray cat ran onto the field during the eighth inning.
