I-10 wreck turns deadly

A vehicle wrecked Saturday night near Geronimo and Paisano on the westbound lanes of Interstate 10.

According to 911 operators, one person was killed. A spokesman with the El Paso Police Department has yet to confirm that information.

The wreck occurred around 10:30 p.m. Those driving in the area were backed up for hours, the area remains closed off Sunday morning.

Special traffic investigators were called out to the area, according to police radio traffic. Special traffic investigators are called to severe traffic wrecks, or when a crash could turn deadly.

First responders tell ABC-7 they’re not sure how many vehicles were involved in the wreck, but that one of the vehicles appeared to have rolled over.
