Rep. Naomi Gonzalez in jail

ABC-7 confirmed with Travis County jail officials, State Rep. Naomi Gonzalez turned herself in Friday night.

Gonzalez is serving time after being convicted on a charge of driving while intoxicated. She was sentenced to more than two weeks in jail.

The incident happened in March 2013.

Austin police said Gonzalez crashed her BMW into a car, which then hit a bicyclist. Along with her 15 day sentence, the Travis county attorney said Gonzalez will lose her driver’s license for 180 days, must pay restitution, and receive counseling.

In March, she lost her bid for re-election after coming in third in the democratic primary.
