Cold weather leads to death, injuries in Ciudad Juarez

While temperatures are on the rise around the Borderland, the cold temperatures the Southwest experienced this January are believed to be the cause of 8 deaths and at least 89 injuries, according to officials.

According to Chihuahua state officials, six people have died due to the winter conditions.

Another 89 people have gotten sick.

The cold-related deaths and illnesses range from hypothermia to carbon monoxide poisoning.

El Diario reported another two deaths occurred Saturday due to carbon monoxide, brining the death toll to eight.

Juarez police said another 40-year-old man died yesterday in his home from carbon monoxide fumes as well.

He was found dead in his home.
