Martin Luther King Jr. Day closings

Area closings and schedules for Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday.

Sun Metro’s fixed route and LIFT, paratransit, services will operate on a regular weekday schedule on Martin Luther King Day, Monday, Jan. 21. Sun Metro’s customer service line, (915)533-3333, will be available from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

City of Las Cruces: City Hall and most other City of Las Cruces offices will be closed Monday, January 21 in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. national holiday. Emergency services such as fire and police will not be affected. Solid waste and recycling will be collected as normal and the Foothills Landfill, 555 S. Sonoma Ranch Blvd. will be open regular hours, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. RoadRUNNER Transit will operate normal schedule.

El Paso Environmental Services: he public is advised that Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday will impact some solid waste operations for the City of El Paso Environmental Services Department.

The Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday will NOT impact trash and recyclable collections. Residents will have garbage and recyclables picked up on their scheduled collection day.

The Greater El Paso Landfill will be closed on Monday, January 21st, in observance of the holiday. The landfill will resume regular business hours on Tuesday, January 22nd. The landfill, at 2300 Darrington Road, is normally open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

The Citizen Collection Stations will be closed on Monday, January 21st, as part of their normal schedule. The drop-off sites will resume regular operating hours on Tuesday, January 22nd. The sites are regularly open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and are located at: 121 Atlantic, 4200 Delta, 2492 Harrison, 4501 Hondo Pass, and 1034 Pendale.

El Paso Animal Services: The public is advised that Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday will impact some Animal Services Division programs for the City of El Paso Environmental Services Department. The Animal Shelter, located at 5001 Fred Wilson, will be closed on Monday, January 21st, in observance of the holiday. The shelter will resume regular operating hours on Tuesday, January 22nd. The shelter is regularly open from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Animal-related emergencies on MLK day should be reported by calling police non-emergency dispatch at 832-4400. Animal Services officers will be on-call during the holiday to respond to serious animal-related calls. The Animal Services Division will resume normal operating hours on Tuesday, January 22nd.

Holiday Schedule for El Paso Parks and Recreation: The Administrative Offices for the Parks and Recreation Department at City Hall will be closed. Senior Centers and Daycare Operations will be closed.

Sports Centers will be open.

Aquatic Centers will be open. (Schedule attached)

All Public Library Branches will be closed on Monday, January 21, 2013, in observance of MLK Day. They will resume their regular schedules on Tuesday, January 22.

Housing Authority of the City of El Paso: In observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday, the Housing Authority of the City of El Paso (HACEP) will be closed Monday, January 21, 2013. Offices will resume regular schedules on Tuesday, January 22, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Standby maintenance crews will be on call 24 hours if an emergency should arise. Public housing residents may call the emergency work order line at (915) 849-3743 for emergencies only. To report routine work orders, residents may call (915) 849-3744 and work will commence during regular business hours.

El Paso: City Hall: As a reminder, City Hall will be closed on Monday, January 21, 2013 in observance of the MLK Holiday. Offices will resume regular schedules on Tuesday, January 22, 7:00am – 6:00pm. City Council will also take place at its scheduled start time of 8:30 am.

El Paso Department of Public Health: The City of El Paso Department of Public Health would like to inform the public that all Department of Public Health locations will be closed on Monday, January 21, 2013 in observance of the Martin Luther King Holiday. Please note that this closure includes all WIC Centers. Additionally, the Rawlings Dental Clinic will remain closed on the 22nd and will reopen on the 23rd.
