Chain reaction crash kills one, shuts down Interstate 10

An early-morning crash involving an El Paso police car caused a chain reaction of multiple collisions that ended up shutting down the westbound lanes of Interstate 10.

The chain of crashes happened on I-10 west between Raynolds street and Paisano drive early Saturday morning.

Police say one of the crashes was deadly.

The first crash happened when a police squad car was hit from behind. The police the officer is OK.

While police were trying to clear the scene, another police car was hit by a motorcycle.

Later, another crash happened at the Raynolds offramp.

Traffic investigators are trying to determine exactly what happened.
