NMSU athletic director’s contract extended through Dec. 31

The contract of New Mexico State University’s athletic director has been extended until Dec. 31 when he will step down, NMSU announced Wednesday.

McKinley Boston’s contract was set to expire this month.

“Dr. Boston has done a fine job in leading our athletics department over the past 10 years,” NMSU President Garrey Carruthers said. “I am most pleased with his attention to academics and the development of support groups for our student athletes during his time at NMSU.”

Carruthers and Boston will continue working on conference realignment, athletic finances and the day-to-day operation of the department.
