Baseball writer sees Chihuahuas’ Chico as ex-fighting dog on drugs
A CBSSports.com baseball writer makes some observations about the El Paso Chihuahuas new mascot, Chico.
In a piece titled “Triple-A El Paso’s mascot is possibly a menace to society” Dayn Perry writes “Chico has torn ears, which suggests a past history — recent and or distant — of dog-fighting. Chico has eyes that are at once dilated and bloodshot. This is surely because he is high on illegal street drugs at this very moment.”

“That’s is not nice of him to write that column. I’m very proud of our chihuahua team and our mascot. If they can’t write anything nice then don’t write anything at all,” Joann wrote about the column on KVIA’s Facebook page.
Aly said, “Well not everyone has a good past and we’re not all perfect.”
Victor on the other hand, is taking it all in stride, writing on the KVIA Facebook page, “In Chico’s voice ‘Asi Soy y Que!!'”
