Teen texting, crashes parents’ car over the weekend

Over the weekend, a teen driving in Fabens crashed his parents’ car into a utility pole.

El Paso County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived at the scene on the 17700 block of Island Tornillo Rd. Saturday afternoon. They discovered a 16-year-old female was driving a Honda Accord.

Sheriff’s Deputies learned that the girl had taken her parents’ vehicle without permission and was looking to go to Juarez. She grabbed her cell phone while she was driving and when she looked away she crashed.

The driver was cited for no Driver’s License and was transported to Del Sol with minor injuries.
