Update: Man shot near Downtown Thursday has died, 3 arrested
Oct. 31 Update: Aaron Ochoa, the 18-year-old shot and killed near Downtown El Paso Thursday afternoon, has died.
El Paso Police have arrested three people in connection with the shooting.
More details on the incident and arrests are expected to be released Friday afternoon.
Oct. 30 story: El Paso Police say that an 18-year-old man was wounded in a shooting Thursday afternoon and is in critical condition at University Medical Center.
The shooting occurred at about 5:12 p.m. near the intersection of Rio Grande and Stanton.
According to an emergency alert sent by El Paso Community College, it was a drive-by shooting with the suspect driving a black SUV. Police said there were 3 or 4 people inside. EPCC’s Rio Grande campus is very close to where the shooting happened.
A witness told ABC-7 he heard nine shots fired and saw the person drive off in a vehicle. Police say the teen was in a parking lot when he was shot.
Stanton Street, from Rio Grande to Montana, was blocked off while police investigated the shooting.
