El Paso Police investigating possible child abuse case

El Paso Police are investigating a possible case of child abuse.

Police Det. Mike Baranyay tells ABC7 that on Nov. 8 an officer was conducting a traffic stop in the 1400 block of Michaelangelo when he was flagged down by a woman holding a small child.

The officer noticed the child was unresponsive and called for an ambulance, EMS took the child to University Medical Center.

At the hospital the officer and hospital staff noticed what appeared to be signs of abuse.

The child, described as a 3-year-old female, remains at UMC’s Children’s Hospital. Detectives from Crimes Against Children are investigating the case but no arrests have been made so far.
