Early-morning fire in Las Cruces displaces family

The Las Cruces Fire Department was busy early Saturday morning extinguishing a fire in southwest Las Cruces.

Firefighters were called out to a home on the 1300 block of Branding Iron Circle just before 7 a.m. Neighbors reported smoke coming from a mobile home. Crews reportedly saw heavy smoke conditions on their arrival. Fire crews checked the home and brought the fire under control within 20 minutes.

The residents were not home at the time of the fire. However, a family four lived in the home.

Fire investigators are actively investigating the cause of the blaze. The dollar value of the loss has not been determined. Several rooms suffered heavy fire damage while other interior living spaces sustained only minor smoke and water damage.

No firefighter injuries were reported.
