El Paso Sheriff’s Office, Animal Services to round up stray, loose dogs on Wednesday

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and the City of El Paso Animal Services Division are teaming up for a stray/loose dog roundup in east El Paso County on Wednesday, March 13 th .

Starting at 8 a.m., the operation will focus on the impounding of unrestrained domestic/stray animals in the Montana Vista area of El Paso County. Animal Control Unit Officers from the Sheriff’s Office and Animal Services Officers will be looking for owners who do not have their dog on a leash or properly secured.

Currently, citizens living in the unincorporated areas of the county who own domesticated pets are required to have their pets vaccinated. Animal owners found in violation of the State Health & Safety Code will be cited and may result in the animal being impounded.

To help prevent the domestic and stray animal population from continuing to grow in the county, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office urges citizens living in unincorporated areas, who own domesticated animals, to get their animals vaccinated and help control the animal population by spaying or neutering their pets.

The enhanced enforcement was organized by the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office to reduce the number of stray or loose dogs in El Paso County. The City of El Paso Environmental Services Department Animal Services Division is more than willing to assist the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office with the enhanced enforcement.
