Fire damages 3 mobile homes, kills dog in Las Cruces

The Las Cruces Fire Department put out an early morning fire that damaged three mobile homes.

Firefighters were dispatched just after 2 a.m. Thursday to a mobile home fire in the 2800 block of West Picacho Avenue where two mobile homes were on fire and had smoke.

A third mobile home caught fire, as did several other vehicles.

No firefighters or civilians were injured in the fire. One dog died and several cats were able to escape.

The fire caused significant damage to a storage shed and several vehicles. Total estimated damage is around $40,000. The fire is suspicious in nature and is still under investigation, according to fire officials.
