Boosters gearing up for Canutillo state semifinal
With the Canutillo Eagles in the state semifinals, supporters across the borderland are ramping up their efforts.
There’s been a serious outpouring for the Eagles in the Borderland, who are just one win away from the state championship game. Some more direct supporters got together Tuesday night to gather funds and supplies for the team.
Members of the Canutillo High School Football Boosters Club and the community came together at the Canutillo Peter Piper Pizza to sell brand-new playoffs t-shirts, take donations, and put together snack packages for the players on the drive to Lubbock.
The funds will be in part going towards now three charter buses going to the game on Friday, with a lot of excited fans and supporters wanting to help the team in any way.
“We gathered today to just gather a bunch of goodies for our boys so they can take it on the trip,” said Noe Vargas, vice president of the boosters club. “Healthy snacks before the game. We’ll be following them the whole time, the whole trip the way over there. After that, we’ll be able to stop at rest areas and help them out, give them snacks so they don’t go hungry the whole trip, because it’s about a five hour drive.”
The boosters are posting about t-shirt sales and bus seats on their Facebook page as new opportunities come up.
ABC-7 will be airing the game as Canutillo faces Ennis this friday at 6 p.m. in Lubbock. You to send the Canutillo team mobile shoutouts on our Facebook and Twitter. And make sure to give anything you post about the team on social media the hashtag #gocanutillo.
