Bowie Basketball Coach Celaya Resigns

Bowie High School is now looking for a new boys basketball coach. ABC-7 Sports Director Asher Wildman learned earlier today that both Bears head coach Danny Celaya and Jesus “Jesse” Lopez have resigned from the school.

According to a source, allegations were brought forth from a players parents about their child being hazed. When asked if allegations of hazing is why Celaya resigned he replied, “No.”

Celaya would not comment on why he resigned, but told Wildman, “That he hopes to land on his feet somewhere and continue coaching.”

Bowie was 13-14 last season, and won four bi-district crowns in the last five years.

According to the EPISD, Celaya and Lopez are not at Bowie right now because they are using their voluntary non-duty days.
