470 pounds of pot seized at port of entry

A total of 470 pounds of marijuana were seized in four seizures from the New Mexico border crossing.Street value of the contraband is estimated at $376,000.

When a CBP officer selected a 2006 Dodge Ram pickup truck from Mexico for a secondary examination, CBP drug sniffing dog “kyra” searched the truck and alerted the officers of drug presence.

After the vehicle was scanned with an x-ray system it revealed areas of concern in the fuel tank and tires.As the exam continued officers located three 182.5 pounds of marijuana.

The driver of the vehicle identified as 38- year-old Francisco Javier Rodriguez Quintana from Chihuahua city, Mexicowas arrested.

This was the largest seizure that day, it happened just before 2 p.m.
