Otero County fireworks cleanup begins

Cleanup has begun after the Fourth of July holiday. Because of fireworks bans in El Paso and Dona Ana counties, the number of places where people can set off their own fireworks was limited.

But up in Otero County, folks were up early cleaning up some of mess left behind. A manager with one of the fireworks stands say TNT hires groups to cleanup. Each stand also agrees to cleanup the lot they’re in or face a fine.

“It’s probably the hardest part of the job. Picking up after everyone else , but it’s got to be done,” said Manager Davide Elliott.

Elliott added that TNT hires the cleanup groups as fundraisers. They’ll work throughout the week.
