Heavy rainfall,hail and thunderstorms return to the Borderland

Strong thunderstorms and very heavy rainfall hit the west side of El Paso Tuesday afternoon. These storms continued to move west bringing much of our viewing area rain, gust and thunder. We received reports of flooding on Mesa and pea size hail near Sunland Park. El Paso international received trace amounts of rainfall while Santa Theresa received .20,and Silver City airport reports .52 of rainfall.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue through the evening, and through the overnight hours across the Borderland. Overnight lows generally in the upper 60s to mid 70s with mid 60s in the mountains. Locally heavy rain with flooding is possible with these storms.
