Las Cruces Man Charged for Allegedly Battering, Threatening Mother
Police arrested a Las Cruces man suspected of threatening his mother Monday with a hacksaw and a knife.
Emmanuel Rivera, 22, is charged with one count each of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and battery against a household member.
Shortly after noon on Monday, Jan. 19, Las Cruces Police were dispatched to the 1700 block of Aspen Court after Rivera reported became irate when the mother of his young son went to his home and picked up their child.
Detectives learned that Rivera became upset with his own mother for allowing his son to leave. Rivera is accused of placing his mother into a headlock and threatening her with a hacksaw. After letting his mother go, River is believed to have followed her to the kitchen where he grabbed a knife and threatens her again.
Rivera’s mother was not seriously injured.
Rivera was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center where he was initially being held without bond.
