Gov. Susana Martinez holds inaugural ball in Las Cruces

New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez is beginning the celebrations before she’s sworn in for her second term at New Mexico’s True Inaugural ball at the Pan-Am Center in Las Cruces.

Governor Martinez was re-elected in November. She ran against Democratic candidate Gary King. The two battled it out on the podium in October in Albuquerque for a debate that was aired across much of New Mexico.

When the election results came down in Martinez’s favor, she said she hoped her strong win would send a message that the state wants quote “Leaders who choose to work across party lines and not point fingers.”

Martinez is also the nation’s only Latina governor.

The gala kicks off at 7:30. Tune into ABC-7 at 10 to hear from Martinez.
