Man charged with murder after allegedly shooting Army sergeant
El Paso police say they’ve arrested the man who allegedly killed Anthony Bowler, 30, overnight on Saturday.
Alberto Mendiola had a rifle when he got to a home on the east side of town, police said.
Mendiola’s estranged wife and children were at the home, and so was Anthony Bowler.
Bowler’s mother told us last night that her dead son was at the house for a barbeque.
Police say when people inside of the house saw Mendiola and Bowler went to lock the back door and that’s when Mendiola allegedly started shooting and killed Bowler.
Mendiola then left the home and took his wife and three children along with him.
Mendiola has beeok booked into the El Paso County Detention Center and charged with murder and violating a protective order.
He is being held on a bond totalling $250,000.
