UTEP to hold rally for UTEP women’s basketball team
The University of Texas at El Paso women made history last week when they sold out the Don Haskins center twice during the WNIT basketball tournament.
UTEP wants to celebrate their post-season accomplishments with a rally Saturday April 12 in front of the UTEP library.
Coach Keitha Adams and the team will be there to sign autographs and take pictures with fans from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
The celebration is part of the university’s open house, which coincides with UTEP’s Centennial celebration. Parking for Saturday’s event will be free in the Schuster and Sun Bowl parking garages.
The Miners lost the WNIT championship by one basket, 56-54, to Rutgers on Saturday.
“It just stings because we were so close, you now? Gosh…!” Adams said holding back emotions after the game. “I’m really proud of our team, I’m proud of El Paso.”
Fans cheered as the players left the Don Haskins center with the runner-up title Saturday. They will get one more chance to celebrate the team’s efforts this weekend.
