Father of wanted LAPD officer indicted in El Paso, accused of lying to FBI
The U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Western District of Texas confirmed an El Paso federal grand jury returned an indictment Wednesday afternoon and charged Victor Manuel Solis, 53, with making a false statement to FBI agents.
El Paso FBI agents questioned Solis on the whereabouts of his son, Henry Solis, a Los Angeles Police Officer accused of murder and on the run.
Henry Solis is wanted for shooting and killing a man in the L.A. suburb of Pomona last month. He was off duty at the time.
Victor Solis told agents last month he dropped off his son at a bus station in El Paso.
Surveillance photos from the Paso Del Norte Port of Entry showed the elder Solis walking with his son over the bridge to Juarez March 14.
Henry Solis, now a former LAPD officer remains a fugitive. The FBI is offering a $25,000 reward for information directly leading to his arrest.
Victor Solis was arrested Wednesday afternoon in Lancaster, California by federal agents.
He is awaiting transfer to the El Paso Division of the Western District of Texas.
If convicted, Victor Solis can spend up to five years in federal prison and a maximum $250,000 fine.
