Update: Police ID couple found dead in murder-suicide
El Paso Police are investigating a murder-suicide that occurred in Central El Paso.
Police were called out to a home in the 2700 block of Sparkman just before 8:30 a.m. Thursday in reference to a family fight in progress.
Officers arrived at the home and found 63-year-old Elva Melendez dead in the kitchen.
Police say she sustained a stab wound to her upper torso.
Officers also found 72-year-old Victor Melendez dead in the backyard of the home.
Based on the investigation, detectives believe that Victor Melendez stabbed Elva Melendez and then went outside and shot himself in the head.
The investigation is continuing.
